| Ascitic fluid | 3 days | Specimen should be collected aseptically and delivered in sterile container |
| Knee aspirates | 3 days | Spread the smear evenly on to a clean slide and fix immediately. Allow to dry before sending to the lab. |
| Cervical Smear | 3 days | Rotate cervix brush five times in clockwise motion. Transfer sample to clean slide and immediately fix with a cytoloical fixative from a distance of 30 cm. Let dry before sending to the lab. |
